Being Crunchy is oh so Cool at La Grande Orange in Phoenix

This past weekend I flew out to Phoenix for a friend's wedding.  Luckily I just evaded the 107 degree weather and it was 70 - 80 degrees the whole week.

Growing up in the midwest I had never heard the term "crunchy" before, have you?  My roommate in college was from Colorado and she used it all the time.  Apparently there are a lot of crunchies in Colorado and it means, from what I gather, a hip hippie who probably eats granola and drives a Jetta.

La Grande Orange was so busy on a Friday morning that workers come outside of the cafe ready to take orders to which they will deliver it to your car or have it ready quickly inside.  Once we walked in ready to order, I was engulfed by the ambiance and healthy selections of breakfast items.  If you can't make it for breakfast there is a lunch menu too. The workers were definately crunchy and it made me want to break out my hiking boots and go back to my natural hair color.

Here's what I had for breakfast and it was oh so divine!  Except that my friends couldn't keep dipping into the blackberry jam.  I think I'd like the mornings a lot better if they all started out with avocado, eggs, and toast.

What organic cafe wouldn't have a fresh bread?!

Sadly I didn't get to come back during my trip but I really really ridiculously wanted to try one of these pastries aren't they beautiful!

When near Phoenix you need to plan a stop to this cafe.  Not only are there a selection of fresh brewed organic coffees, but La Grande Orange really brings the people together, rich folks, college kids, and hippies; can't beat the people watching prospects.
