Are We In A Recession And Should It Really Matter?

Are We In A Recession And Should It Really Matter?
Too many restaurants will get caught up in the “we’re in a recession” panic mode and commence with cutbacks that will affect product quality and customer service. Those restaurants that play this game will ultimately lose guests –- guests who will never come back to them when the economy becomes vibrant again.

My recommendation is to stand up and fight this recessional mindset. Maintain your clear vision, sharpen your skills to create true guest loyalty and remain “unstoppable.” Create experiences that your guests will always remember. Do it faster and better.

Why? Because it’s your customers that will decide the fate of your company, not the economy.

I agree with Chef CC.  We also have added menu inserts on value added meal to bring them in.  Pumped up the advertising. Can't throw in the towel. We have seen the increase with the inserts. We also supersized some of the entrees to defy the media and their gloominess. lol

I agree with you...but you also need to focus on helping out your customers by offering some value added menu items...Some midweek inexpense comfort foods...Because our middleclass customers are hurting...they still what to eat out but they becoming more frugal and can't afford to eat out as often....it all boils down to the cost of GAS...I've seen a direct correlation with the rise of fuel costs and a decrease in Lunch business...People start brown bagging it more...
